Occasionally, I like to make fan art for my favorite band, Alkaline Trio. And I had a really enjoyable idea recently: I decided to screenprint the alarm clock found on their album Goddamnit.
I opted to print on 12"x12" strechted canvas, because I thought it would provide the best result overall. And it would look pretty sweet hanging up.
It was a relatively simple process, too.
I started by getting a high quality scan of the album art and adjusting the contrast to my liking. After which I printed out the image and began breaking it down for a two ink print on tracing paper.

After the image was transferred and the screen was prepped I prepared to print on a stretched canvas that had already been painted black.
First, I printed the silver ink using the image on the right half of the screen. It's upside down in the picture.
Then I let the silver ink dry and printed with the red ink (using the left half of the screen), being careful to line up the images.
Once the image was printed and dry, I strung wire across the back for hanging. And voila.

Note: I'm not entirely sure why, but the red ink bubbled and created an interesting texture on all of the prints I've done. Another happy accident.
